Sydney is dressing up for Christmas
Hey everybody!
On the 23rd, Kat and I decided to take a look at Sydney dressed up for Christmas and enjoy the best parts of Sydney again before I leave. But it all started with the hunt for Santa Hats at Paddy’s Markets in Chinatown…

But as things develop, we ended up in the heart of Chinatown..
.
… eating the world famous puffs at Emporor’s!

But you know at least me and my eating habbits - in this Chinese bakery was too much good stuff and I didn’t try all of it, so Kat introduced me into Cocktail and Pork Buns - absolutely delicious! The best thing was, that I found Kokosbusserln (coconut kisses) in this bakery! And they tasted really good! But there is more to come regarding this topic… anyway, we ended up going to Darling Harbour - I mean why not? It was a beautiful day and it is just a stonethrow away from Chinatown so here we are:

What would Christmas be without the decoration? Hmmm strange enough, but you could not see much of decoration at Darling Harbour except…

… some flags….

There is a rule: When you are at Darling Harbour, you have to do the whole round, that means - Pyrmont Bridge! As we went over the bridge we saw an adevertising of the nearby Maritime Museum advertising…. guess what??
ÖTZI!!!

Of course we went into the museum (which is for free by the way and still very good!) but just for a quick look at the exhibition - we didn’t want to waste time with the weather being nice once!
So we went back to the Harbour…

… and as we took a look into the water I was surprised to find…

jellyfish! We were not sure how poisonioness the were, but I guess you would die immediately when falling into the sea here :)
Anyway, despite all other things we had another reason to visit my favourite place in Sydney:

A HUGE futuristic Christmas tree! You can’t see it on the image so take a closer look at this:

Kangaroos on the Christmas tree :) I told you, it is really futuristic, didn’t I?

We will be back to this Christmas tree in a sec, but before that let me present the Christmas meal of Kat and me:

After such an exhausting day (I didn’t tell you the whole story about the Santa hat, but we ended up on George St after a nerve wrecking Paddy’s experience….) we needed a proper meal. What is more, it was the last night before Kat was going to leave back home into the mountains, so we had to celebrate Christmas! And as you can see, we were hungry :)

It looks like a look I know, but this is just half the story of this day. Despite of the Vanillekipferl part of the day, Kat and I had a plan: We wanted to visit all important and nicely lit Christmas trees in Sydney namely on Martin Pl, Town Hall and Darling Harbour again - but this time at night!
So here we went:

This is the tree on Martin Place in Sydney CBD - beautiful, isn’t it?

Martin Pl in general is beautiful at night, but especially with the Christmas decoration:

Our next stop was Town Hall - we could have stayed there for more than just half an hour.. the changing lights were so beautiful!

But it was already late and we still had to go to Darling Harbour - because of THIS view

Now you may see what I meant by jumping Kangaroos ;)

During our day, Kat found out that until now I never had been to Star City - a famous and huge casino in Sydney near Darling Harbour. So although it was already late, we went there and had a look and a drink - it was really nice! But unbelievable how full it was for a Sunday, 2am…

In Australian casinos nobody cares what you wear, you could even show up in your undies I guess but we were not allowed to wear our hats! Screw it, we spend 3 hours finding them - so of course we wore them! Haha security, chase us :D

Even Star City had a nice Christmas thing set up!
There was only one strange thing this day: When we were at Darling Harbour at night, it was completely empty. And by that I really mean COMPLETLY empty! Kat assured me that it was just because it was the 23rd and it was 3am hehe but still… I NEVER saw Darling Harbour that empty:

Anway, it was a very nice day, cheers Kat! :)
