The Indian Pacific and Adelaide

Ellen, Becca and me were experiencing Australia the old fashoned way - from Sydney to Adelaide with the Indian Pacific!

Thats the famous Indian PacificAs you can see, it departs from Sydney to Perth via Adelaide and vvWe boarded in Sydney Central StationBecca and Ellen in the trainThats just a short part of the train - all in all it was more than 610m long!!We were sitting in the Holzklasse - nevertheless, we had our own diner menu! The Blue Mountains - beautiful! This was our carriage - we were lucky because it was half empty during the night as most of the people boarded in Broken Hill, so we had a lot of space to sleep. We seats were very comfortable and spaceous by the wayThats the loungeThats the dining carriage - looks like a diner in the USBlue Mountains againSun dawn in the Blue Mountains - very niceIn the morning on our way to Broken Hill - the outback. As you can see, there is literally nothing but plain bushlandBroken Hill - a ghostown?Maybe that was just because of the time - 7am ;)Thats the Town Hall of Broken HillWe had a nice breakfastLook at this Muffin!!!Finally, we arrived in Adelaide after a 24h ride on the trainKing William Street is the main streetThe shopping mile of Adelaide - unfortunately everything closed at 5pm on Sunday - one hour later Adelaide looked like a ghost town - no cars, no people. I dunno whyThis reminded my very much of The Strand in Sydney - who copied whom? The girls :)This was very strange - Subway with the wrong colors. I asked inside the shop why they have different colors but they did not know ;)Adelaide has a little tram system which is party for freeWe went to Haights chocoloate factory! They learned how to make chocolate from the Lindt Family... that is why the choc tastes soooo good :)Thats a 11.5kg gold nugget - not bad, isn't it?Both the Museum...... and the Art Gallery of South Australia were very nice!
